The non-slip platform with a layer of grip tape (a special mixture of sandpaper) ensures a stable foot position and prevents the foot from slipping while riding.
A steel foot brake mounted on the rear wheel ensures user safety and allows for smooth speed control. It also acts as a mudguard, protecting against splashes
